PHAN MẠNH ĐỨC – Director

Artist Phan Manh Duc (stage name as Phan Duc) was born in 1972. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in vocal, Vietnam National Academy of Music and a master’s degree in cultural management from Hanoi University of Culture. He has worked at the Vietnam National Opera and Ballet from 1997 up to now. Before being appointed as the Deputy Director, he was the leader of the Opera Group.

He has participated in many famous art works and programs as a soloist, such as the Vietnam-Laos Cultural Exchange Program, in Vientiane capital (2004), HX Vietnam – USA show, French Music Night (2005), “Orphe’e  et Eurydice”, playing Gugliemo in Opera “Cosi Fan Tutte”, belonged to the SIDA fund project, successfully touring in Vietnam and Sweden (2006), Flying Dutch (2007), Jak in “Night Opera” and Marcello in “Laboheme (2008), Mr. Nam in “Dreams and Realities” (2009), Black Bob in “The little Sweet”, “Walks Through the Valley” (2010), and the Story Teller in “Maria De Buenos Aires”, Old Man in “Miss Sao” (2014); Abe No Miushi in “Bamboo Princess” (2015), art program “Vietnamese Cultural Days” in Russian Federation (2016) ), Grand Father Pito, story teller in “Peter and the Worf” (2018, 2019) …. In addition, he has performed many roles in Opera excerpts, and many other concerts of VNOB.

Not only succeeding in the artist, he also works very effectively in other roles such as vocal instructors, assistant directors of Opera, MC, director …

He has awarded the Silver Medal at the National Professional Singing, Dance and Music Festival in 2015 for his role as Old Men Sinh in the opera “Miss Sao”. From Oct 10th, he was promoted Director of Vietnam National Opera and Ballet.
