Les Misérables, also known as Les Mis, written by French author Victor Hugo and published in 1862, is widely considered one of the great novels of the 19th century.
Against the struggles caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, Vietnam National Opera and Ballet have taken inspiration from Victor Hugo’s masterpiece to bring you tonight the beloved musical Les Misérables. May we all once again, through music and the magic of the stage, stand in solidarity, in love, and in the hope for a better future.
Our production of Les Mis tells the tale of broken dreams, of unrequited love, of passion, of sacrifice, and ultimately, of redemption. As the curtain goes up, please immerse yourselves in the timeless tale of Les Mis, our own tale of human empathy and love. The barriers of time, space, race, and politics will shatter. Only humanity and love shall remain.
